Joe Mungai
Managing Director
He is the Founder and Managing Director of Tamarind Properties Limited. He holds a BA (Hon) and a Master’s Degree in Economics (Columbia University, New York), Diploma in International Finance and International Economics (World Bank,Washington,DC,USA); Diploma in Foreign Trade(United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa);Carnegie Diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations(Columbia University, New York);Diploma in United Nations Rules,Procedures,Organizatios and Agencies(United Nations Headquaters,New York) and an Advanced Diploma in the French Language(University of Madagascar).Joe worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 10 years during which he served as a Senior Diplomat in several Embassies overseas and represented Kenya for 5 years at the United Nations General Assembly, the United Nations Economic and Social Council and at the United Nations Security Council.
Thereafter, he worked with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UNHABITAT) where he sharpened his knowledge and expertise in the planning and development of high quality but low-cost housing. During the 25 years which Joe worked at UNHABITAT, he served as a Senior Manager, Chief of External Relations, Chief of Inter-Agency Affairs and as Secretary to the Governing Council of UNHABITAT.He also served as Secretary to the World Urban Forum in Barcelona, Spain.
He is also a Founder Member and a former Vice Chairman of the Kenya Property Developers’ Association(KPDA),a Member of the Kenya Ministry of Housing’s Committee on Housing Sector Incentives, a Member of the Housing Ministerial Stakeholders’ Forum of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance(KEPSA),Member of the Kenya Government /United Nations Committee on Mainstreaming Energy Efficiency Measures in the Construction Industry, and Member of the Executive Committee and Treasurer of the Association of Former Kenya Ambassadors and Senior Diplomats.
Brian Mungai
Director
He holds a BA (Hon.) Degree in Management from the University of Manchester in the UK. He completed his Masters Degree in Real Estate Development and Management at the same University.He has worked with various real estate firms in Kenya and in the UK, namely;
– Tamarind Properties Ltd in the Sales and Marketing Department where he was involved in marketing and closure of sales.
– Knight Frank, which is a leading global real estate consultancy firm, where he gained experience in residential real estate administration, market analysis, business-client negotiations, agency, property viewings and E-Marketing.
– He has also worked in the United Kingdom with Colliers International (the number two commercial real estate firm in the world) where he gained experience in development consultancy, investment property management, rating, lease consultancy, valuations, corporate restructuring and building consultancy.
– He also worked with Mentor Management, which is East Africa’s largest locally based construction, project and development management company, where he enhanced his skills in real estate logistics, project execution and project management.
Makinda
Brand Manager
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi. She also holds an Diploma in IT from Railways Training Institute.She has more than 7 years experience in the corporate world having worked previously with Mosana Consultancy firm as a Communications Officer and as an Assistant Programs Officer in the former office of the Prime Minister. Makinda joined Tamarind Properties Ltd in 2016 and she is in charge of the general administration and operations of the office, including human resources and sales completions.
Jacqueline
Admin/Operations Manager
Holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree, Business Management option from St. Paul’s University, Nairobi. She has more than 10 years experience in both general administration and sales and marketing, having previously worked as a Sales and Operations Manager and before that as an Office Manager. Jacqueline joined Tamarind Properties Ltd in January 2020 and is in the Sales and Marketing department.
Mary
Accountant
Mary is a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K). She has more than 10 years of working experience in accounting and auditing fields having worked with Intra-Health International, Waithaka Kiarie Mbaya & Co. and Sanaa Art Promotions. Mary joined Tamarind Properties Ltd in 2015 as an Accountant.

Tamarind Properties Ltd is a company that has an impressive track record in the real estate sector in Kenya. It started off with Tamarind Court (20 apartments) in Lavington in 2006, then Tamarind Gardens (17 townhouses) in Lavington in 2007, followed by Evergreen Court (24 apartments) in Kileleshwa in 2008, and then Tamarind Meadows on Mombasa Road (208 maisonettes and townhouses) in the same year. In February 2011, the firm broke ground for Tamarind Valley in Embakasi (830 houses plus a shopping mall).
The company has achieved recognition industry-wide both in Kenya and worldwide, especially among the Kenyan Diaspora, for delivering residential houses which are of high quality and at competitive and affordable prices .The firm has won several Awards in the real estate industry during the annual Kenya and London Homes Exhibitions for the last six consecutive years.
